This simple yet powerful low frequency metal detector will help you find even the smallest of gold treasures. The Scorpion Gold Stinger is very affordable and includes an “All Metals” mode to detect more than just gold; but also treasures made of silver, iron and nickel.
The model we’re featuring comes standard with the 5” x 10” Crossfire DD waterproof searchcoil. This searchcoil is versatile and deep-seeking, making it effective for any type of detecting. Because it is waterproof, you can submerge this coil into water without any adverse affect on the operation of the detector – this is perfect for hunting in the shallow waters of beaches and rivers as well as on land!
The world renowned 15kHz “Groundhog” circuitry gives you the power to detect treasure within heavily mineralized soil. It can be used when prospecting to sample ore and check “hot rocks” with ease. Yet despite this technology the Stinger still offers easy-to-use 3-mode versatility. “Non-Motion All Metal” mode helps you find more than just the gold treasures, and you can customize your search in the “Calibrated TR Discriminate” mode. The “Motion Discriminate” mode allows you to coin search easily and successfully.

After a lull of several years of on/off metal detector usage, retirement has opened up a renewed active interest in this most rewarding hobby. Although I do not own a Scorpion Gold Stinger, I found the borrowed unit easy to operate and more in line with equipment I was familiar with. I cut my teeth on the old Garrett BFO & VLF/TR detectors of the 1970's era. I was so enthused that I purchased a dealer franchise which opened up a whole new world of a rewarding fun filled hobby. Due to a change in careers, I reluctantly gave up my franchise, but retained an active interest throughout the years. Retirement has provided the spark to actively renew that interest with vigor. allowing the years of research to be put into practice of trying to locate those elusive treasure troves and gold.

I actually bought the Scorpion Gold Stinger for my wife to use. You see I happen to own a Garrett Infinium LS. I dearly love to use it. In my estimation, it is every bit as good as any of the much more expensive Minelab machines. I was really glad that she is happy with it as she liked my Infinium LS quite a bit. She loved the fact it was not trying to tell her what was in the ground. All she wants to know is if there is a target or not. Then she can dig. At first I thought it was leaving out some info but to be honest it tell you a "Target" is there what more do you need? The more times I have grabbed it as it works very quick and simple. Just turn on and go. The more I seem to see just how real great it is. My main thought was to get this for the wife to use till we could find a GTI 2500 for her. Well now we have used it for this length of time. I think we will just keep this one and still buy a GTI 2500 with the Treasure Hound coils when we get the chance. I know what can just two of us do with three detectors? I guess time will tell but I really think that we will keep the 2500 set for deep seeking and then if we are not going to be looking for deep stuff for a while then I can change everything over the night before and use it to check the good stuff with it. Hey, we happen to take looking for Gold real serious. I pack TWO .500 Alaskans Does that sound serious? FYI If you happen to see a rather large older guy wandering around the dry washes with a metal Detector. He happens to carry a Gold Desert Eagle .500 Magnum under the left arm. A SS S&W .500 on his Right hip. That is tied low and tight with a cutoff holster to be able to draw fast as tight so that 12" barrel will slid out of the holster real fast and real quite. Please note the rig is slung back at a greater angle than most. That is so you just barely have to clear leather before you can slip your thumb off the hammer. Still That Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger Is just as slick as they come. I really hope to find enough nuggets to keep acquiring more and more of these toys. This Scorpion is just as neat as sliced bread. I do know one thing it will find coins as well. We have done that several times by accident. I mean we really do look for GOLD. Still these dog gone quarters and such keep getting in the way. Maybe some day it will be a Double Eagle Some time. You never know.

i have metal detected for over 25 years and have found many coins rings nuggetss i used an old tesoro mayan i bought from you years ago i am now interested in a new or refurbished garrett gold stinger and am saving my pennies i found an area in Arizona where the nuggets are almost on the ground but my maaaayan and big bud don't reach down very far irff you can recommend a better gold dector i'm interested, if i won i'd be set for awhile but will need to by my grand son a simple detector soon. something with simple controls as for kellyco ive told 100's of people about your company over the years the biggest nugget i found was over 4 oz's laying right on the surface but couldn't see it till i scanned right over it i almost died looked like a claw sold it for over 5000 back when gold was 400 per oz. this whites dfx f series looks like a nice unit i also like the company that has the unit i can tune to 3 different frequencies. i cant think of it right now i know its around 800 - 1000 and you were running an ad on it. I live in Tucson AZ and there are a lot of great sites around town since tucson has been around since the 1500's a great area i'm still working is around sanoita s/e of tucson toward tombstone but i want a new detector before i hit the spot again.

This is my second detector. I was going on a vacation to Arizona and California, and wanted a detector that could penetrate heavily mineralized ground. After doing a lot of extensive reading and talking to several experienced detectorists, I selected this unit.
The video that came with the unit was informative, however, I found that talking with other people that owned the unit helped me to understand the 'tricks of the trade on how to balance it correctly and fast.
Learning and applying the correct techniques to set the discrimination and ground balancing is the key to this detector. In California and Arizona, I was looking for nuggets, in Texas and in Pennsylvania, I was hunting for coins and relics. This is a 'great machine' if you understand how it works. I have hunted all over the U.S.A., from the deserts to the mountains to the shore of Lake Erie, it is versatile and dependable.
I did not find any nuggets, but I only hunted a short period of time for them. I have found coins, bullet shells, old tools, nails, cans and a lot of unidentified items that are metal. The unit has three search modes, non motion all metal, motion discriminate and calibrated discriminate. It also features all- metal deep-seeking mode, audio threshold adjustable and discrimination, full range.
I have a 5" x 10" elliptical coil which is excellent in heavy brush and sticky thorny areas to access.
I would recommend this unit if an individual hunts or lives in an area of heavy mineralized ground. This is NOT a beginners unit. This is a unit for a person that has had experience with metal detectors. I like my unit and have told my friends and relatives to buy one.

I contacted Kellyco approximately 6 months looking to purchase a detector. I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into and even less of an idea of what detector would meet my needs. I finally called and spoke to one of their sales representatives who was very helpful in assisting me in selecting the detector which I eventually did purchase.
While I anxiously waited for the arrival of my "Scorpion Gold Stinger,” I began making a list of places I would go to try it out. I could hardly wait until the snow finally melted here in New York to get out in the field and begin my searching. I wanted a detector I could use for "prospecting for gold" but also one I could use for searching for coins, jewelry, relics, etc. Finally, the day came to reopen the box, assemble my detector, read the instruction book and head out.
The instructions were easy to read and understand, tuning was not at all difficult and to my delight it was simple to operate. I started in the Motion Discrimination mode, Auto position as advised in the instructions.
Once I finally figured out how to adjust the discrimination to reject the pull tabs, bottle caps and foil I finally found my first coin. It was of all things a penny. In all my first three hour outing, I detected and recovered $.48. The next day I found $3.01 and on my third day I found $1.51. The total does not even come up to minimum wage, but the overall anticipation, joy and satisfaction in finding my first coin is beyond explanation.
I can hardly wait for the opportunity to look for other hidden treasures and my ultimate goal of going prospecting for Gold. My only regret is that I had not discovered this hobby years ago. I owe a great deal of thanks to Kellyco's sales person for his patience and guidance in helping me purchase this fine detector. I have already recommended this hobby to friends. My recommendation to those contemplating getting into detecting is, do not hesitate, do it.
Make that call to Kellyco and seek advice from their knowledgeable staff. Once you have purchased the detector for your needs, you won't be sorry. It is hard to explain the satisfaction of looking for objects hidden from our eyes, but not from my "Scorpion Gold Stinger."

The Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger is the only machine you could ever want or need. I bought a groundhog from Kellyco many years ago because I figured if it’s good enough to find gold, its good enough to find coins. I was right. A few years ago I bought the Garrett Scorpion for the same reason, plus the fact that is has few knobs and whistles. I don't want to waste any time reading manuals in the field, just turn on, tune in, and go. I'm very happy with this unit. Of course, it took me a few days to figure out how to work it, and now know this is a finely tuned piece of high quality equipment. I knew this my first day hunting some old creek beds near a old mine. I kept getting a hit... and I kept digging, and at 12 inches pulled out a tiny ball of bird shot. The manual ground balance is very easy to use and discrimination tunes out tabs while still picking up hundreds of coins. Last week I found in the desert, what I think is a golf ball size meteor rock. I would recommend this detector for pros and beginners as well.

I have had a Gold Stinger since 94, it is an excellent detector for all around hunting, it is simple to use. I have found several old coins, lots of lead bullets, not any nuggets yet but I did find a champagne bottle full of mercury. It weighed 7 LBS. I usually hunt in the all metal mode and dig everything. You never know what you may find.
I would recommend this detector for all around hunting.

I was impressed by the new Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger. It was packaged well and feels of good quality build. It takes a few hours to get used to tuning the machine in heavy mineralized areas. I detected an old alluvial gold field for half a day and found no nuggets, but plenty of mining remnants like old bolts and wire, bullets ect. I found it worked excellent as a coin shooter, giving clean, crisp signals on targets.
I detected on the beach many times and this is an area that the gold stinger really struggles. It is good on dry sand up the beach, but goes crazy in damp or wet sand within 10 meters of the water line, gets extremely noisy and no amount of tuning will cure it, it's like the wet sand is one huge piece of metal.
Overall I think this is a great, proven old-school design which will serve as a powerful all purpose detector. But don't get one for beach detecting. It's niche is really around old gold fields in mineralized soils and in parks etc coin shooting.
I would recommend this detector, but if you really want gold only, do some research and decide if a VLF detector will be enough for you.

I'm still learning how to operate the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger, but I've had some success. I have found a lot of old metal and some coins, but no gold has of yet. I'm making progress though, and even though I'm a beginner I can just use the ground balance selection (set on all metal modes). That way I can pretty much find anything with little time. I have found some coins at the park and don't seem to have any problems finding metal objects. This detector has a good sized learning curve, but with enough practice and training you can be very good at finding what you want in the ground.

I enjoy metal detecting, i spend a lot of my time at schools old buildings and old houses, I find a lot of coins rings and other things, I'm retired so it gives me something to do, I retired due to a ladder accident so using a metal detector increases my mobility. Makes me use my back instead of sitting all the time.
