Garrett ACE 150

Garrett ACE 150

This rugged, easy-to-use metal detector will help you find treasures in almost any ground conditions. The ACE 150 is very affordable and comes with a Garrett PROformance 6.5 x 9” coil.

The ACE 150 features the Three-Tone Audio Discrimination, which will alert you to different treasures with different tones. Because it has a ¼” headphone jack on the control panel, almost any stereo-type headphone-set can be used with the ACE 150. But this is only where the features begin!

This detector is easy-to-use but still provides you with the high performance handling you should expect from Garrett products. Thankfully there are no complex settings or adjustments to make, and you should find the 3 pre-programmed notched search modes intuitive. With its spot-on graphic target ID, impressive discrimination mode with four sensitivity settings, and three depth levels, the ACE 150 is a purchase you won’t regret making.

I have always had a fascination with treasure. It is out there, you just need the tools. I used to have a GTAX 550 until I broke my back and damaged my sciatic nerve. Now, I have an ACE 150, which my children use, it is a good detector for the beginner and my kids use it for coins around the park and ball fields. Before my injury we would go into the hills (Black Hills) and nugget hunt with the 550, which in my opinion was wonderful!

The Black Hills is famous for its history, and it’s gold! The mines are all closed up now but the mother load is still out there according to the old timers. French Creek is where gold was first discovered in the hills, and I have had luck panning down stream, I could only wish to have a detector like this White’s. I’ve seen a demo of it at Black Hills Prospectors (which is no longer open), and the depth and discrimination of this model is outstanding!

I was very impressed, being a Garrett user for years I could only imagine how it would work in the field. There are a few sites that I would love to take the kids, Fort Meade is one. General Custer camped here before heading out to his last battle, Little Bighorn. I'm sure if I still had my 550, the kids and I could unearth a lot of History. The Ace 150 just does not have what it takes to search the depth most relics, but is fine for coin shooting such as the kids use it for.

So, I can wish to have a detector such as this White’s DFX not so much for myself, but so my kids can really find something from the past, from days gone by buried for years, just waiting to be unearthed.

I bought a new Garrett Ace 150 for my birthday last January. Actually, my wife bought it for me. Naturally, we got it from Kellyco. I love the detector; it’s easy to use and lightweight. My biggest disappointment is that it detects lots of pull tabs and screw caps as coins or jewelry.

I spend a lot of time at a local park that was a beach resort back in the early 1900's. I have found lots of coins (all modern) and a couple of cheap rings and a fire opal ear ring. The problem with this park is that it is very popular and the county brings in loads of sand each year to maintain the beach area. According to locals, the original beach is about nine to twelve feet below the current surface.

I also have another park close by that is a county park. The land was donated to the county. It was originally homesteaded in 1878. The house burned down in 1963. However, the area is so overgrown with blackberry bushes that I can't even get to the house site. I'm sure that if I could, I should be able to find some good stuff. I have located a couple of different trash dump areas. There, I found some old, rusty, nearly disintegrated jar lids and broken glass. I've also found some pieces of unidentifiable metal pieces. I suspect they are from some sort of farm tools.

This summer, I plan on detecting a couple of 1870's era churches and school yards in the Yakima and Wenatchee, WA

I really enjoy metal detecting and probably spend ten to twenty hours a week enjoying my hobby. I'm retired, so I have the time and the opportunity. Thanks!

The manufacture model number didn't go quite far back enough to include my Treasure Ace 100. it was quite a lark when my brother gave this very simple machine because years before we lost our Garrett Hunter. I say years because I bought the first machine in 1969. Over 30 years went by before the little Ace 100 came around. At first it was frustrating to operate because I didn't do any reading or experiment with the machine. However, just last Saturday we both decided to take the machine seriously and paid close attention to the single knob for discrimination and the sounds that it made when it came in contact with a good target. What a blast!! With the knob just over the nickle setting it would beep once for junk but give off a nice clear double beep for coins and other stuff that I didn't mind digging up. I can't wait to go try my luck again with this neat little machine. It's not fancy but a heck of a lot of fun to play with. One of these days I hope to be able to afford an MXT to look for coins and relics and to finally do a little prospecting up in the Mother Lode..

After a trip to the doctor 2 years ago, I found out I had high blood pressure, so the doctor told me I need to lose a few pounds. I bought my Ace 150 to get me out of the house and get some much needed exercise.

On my first day out, I was really impressed with the performance of the Ace. I turned on the machine, set it in jewelry mode and started searching a local school yard and the results were amazing. I found $2 in clad coins, one wheat penny and two ladies Avon rings.

Not bad for a low priced detector. Since then I have found hundreds of clad and silver coins and 5 other rings, including a wedding ring a lady lost on our trip to the beach. I searched for less than five minutes in the dry sand before getting a signal. The meter was bouncing between nickel and pull tab. I dug down about 3 inches and pulled out a beautiful ring encrusted with diamonds. With tears of joy, she and her husband were very thrilled to get the ring back. Seeing their faces was well worth the price I paid for the detector.

I have also lost a few pounds, and my blood pressure has been steadily declining since I started detecting. I high recommend the Ace 150 detector to beginners and old pro's alike. Thanks Garrett for making an affordable machine that has great results!

I purchased the Garrett Ace 150 metal detector as my first detector. I had always been an outdoors person and loved exploring. I chose the Ace 150 because of its cheap price, selling around $150, and its big easy to read digital LCD screen. When I received the Ace 150 I quickly watched the included instructional DVD.

Even though the Ace 150 is one of the most affordable metal detectors out there it out preforms many detectors 3 times its cost. The Ace 150 is very light to hold and I even was able to pack it in my luggage! The Ace 150 has a pretty cool LCD screen that shows the coin depth, coin modes and sensitivity. Another great thing about the Ace 150 is the Tone ID feature. The Tone ID feature helps identify different metal objects. When the detector is over a coin the Ace 150 will beep differently than when it is over a pulltab or scrap. The depth meter is pretty accurate but is not always correct. The size of the object being detected sometimes screws with the LCD indicator. It may show a coin at 6 inches, when its actually only 2 inches down.

With the Ace 150 I found about 200 coins and some old relics. The Ace 150 is a great detector for a first time detectorist or part time hobbyist, who wants a very cheap, easy to use detector with cool features. I would give the Ace 150 four stars!

I currently have a Garrett Ace 150 that I got for my birthday last January. Actually, my wife bought it for me. I like the Ace 150. It's a nice detector for the money. Of course we bought the detector online from Kellyco. My biggest disappointment with the 150 is that pull tabs and screw caps consistently show as coins or jewelry. I wish it had better discrimination. I love the fact that it is very lightweight.

I'm retired, so I spend between 10 and 20 hours per week searching for that great find. So far my finds have all been modern coins, a few cheap rings and a silver earring with a fire opal setting. I also found a 1982 square silver Iraqi 50 fils coin?

Currently, I detect at a local county beach park. It was a beach resort/retreat that was extremely popular from 1895 until sometime in the 40's. I thought this would be a great place to detect (coins, jewelry and who knows what else). After talking to some more senior locals, I learned that the original beach area is about 10 feet under the current beach sand. It seems that the county maintenance crews dump and spread loads of beach sand there every year. The resort had a ballroom, mercantile, boardwalk, small carnie and cabin rentals. I'm sure there has to be loads of treasure under there.......but so deep down, now.

There is another county park I have frequented that is close by. It was a family homestead purchased in 1878 or so. In 1898, a house was built on the site, orchards were planted. The old homestead was donated to the county sometime in the 40's. The house burned down in 1964 and wasn't rebuilt. The house site is buried under thick, heavy blackberry bushes. I was able to locate 2 old dump sites, but all I've found there were some old, rusted disintegrated jar lids and broken glass. Found some old metal pieces I think may be old farm tool debris.

I’m sure I could find many older treasures with a better detector. I've often looked at the Whites DFX, but could only drool over it. I have plenty of time and enjoy this hobby so much. But I need a better discriminating and deeper searching metal detector. Then I'm sure I could find those treasures that I want so badly to discover.

I would recommend the Garrett Ace 150. It is a very adequate detector.

The ACE 150 is a nice beginner unit that not only is an exciting attractive bright yellow, it stays the course and does the job with precision and simplicity. The 3 buttons and easy to read guage makes it so easy a child could use it and find treasures instead of frustration. Turn it on, set the mode from all metal, jewelry or coins. Middle button sets ground discrimination, and off you go. I have had many successful trips to the beach using this machine, even though it was my sons birthday gift. It is light and comfortable in the grip, one can root for hours without arm fatigue. A definite plus for Garrett.

This review is on my very first detector, the Garrett Ace 150. I still use this detector on a regular basis. I've found enough coins with this detector to actually pay for the new Garrett Ace 250, which I purchased this past year. The Ace 150 was finding coins for the very instant I started using it. The search was just the right size for searching out coins and Jewelry.

I've used this in almost every condition one can use a detector in. It works great on the beach as well as in school yards and open fields. I would recommend this detector for beginners. In fact I have started my thirteen year old grandson using this very model. He actually likes it more than my new one. He also started finding coins right of the get go.

I used this detector to locate a platinum ring for a doctor who had lost it while attending his sons’ baseball game. He gave me his name and address, and then I left to return to the spot he lost his ring. After about a half hour search, I found it in four inch high grass. I then boxed it up and sent to the good doctor. He was kind enough in turn rewarded me with a check for a hundred dollars. I have also found a hearing aid at the local school yard. When I turned that into the school, they matched it up to a young lady that had lost it. I got a great thank you card which was worth more than money. I was so happy that she got it back. The family wasn't very well off, and getting the hearing aid back was a blessing to them.

I'm new to the metal detector hobby, so to start out i bought the ACE 150 because of the ease of operation. Well it has been a ball! I've had no trouble using it and have already found numerous coins and other things!
